After tying the knot in a Kingman Methodist Church, Clark Gable and Carole Lombard continued along Route 66 to Oatman where they spent their first night in wedlock at the Oatman Hotel. Kingman's downtown, other than being hot, is named after favorite son, Andy Devine. Like many of the western Arizona Route 66 towns, Kingman's downtown still looks much like it did in the 1950s which makes it a great place to wander around, looking for those trinkets that you just can't find in the malls in Southern California.
For a great side trip, head up Route 93 to Las Vegas and spend a couple of days gambling away your savings. If you'd rather hang on to your money, Las Vegas is a great place to people watch, check out crazy sites, or get married! Las Vegas is only about two hours north of Kingman.
